“New Year’s Day” by Sharon Y. Sim

On New Year’s Day, Ginny woke up gung ho. She was ready, ready to press the reset button and start
anew. First, she scrubbed the walls and the floors. Then she threw out those fancy shoes she had forced
herself to wear the last few months that had only made her weep. Then she called her man and threw
him out too.

Sharon Y. Sim runs a Los Angeles-based marketing/PR agency. When she isn’t donning her business hat or wordsmithing for her clients, Sharon writes short stories, flash fiction, creative nonfiction, and has just completed her debut novel THE TIGER BABY.
