Hello readers!
Just popping in to make an announcement that we’re going to be closing our submissions a bit early this month. We’ve been receiving quite a lot of submissions–sometimes 10 per day!–and we’re still catching up from the break we took over the holidays.
We love reading what you send us, and we want to make sure that we can provide you with a reasonable turnaround time. Our goal is 3 months or less, but we’re currently pushing 4 months. Since we make sure that at least one editor reads each of your pieces, this is one reason it takes us a little longer to get back to you.
We’re making our way through submissions we received in October, so don’t fret, you WILL get a response from us. If you’ve submitted something before that and haven’t received a response, go ahead and send us a query.
Get your submissions in! We will be closing submissions early on Feb 14 at 11:59pm PT.
If you miss that deadline, never fear! We’ll open submissions up again on April 1st. (And that’s not a joke, much as I love jokes :D)
In the meantime, we will continue publishing every Monday at noon PT, so don’t stop reading!
See you in the slush pile,
Elena L. Perez
Editor in Chief

You say you’re open but the website says you’re not.
Where and when can I submit my work?
Hi DC! We have quite a large backlog of unread submissions so we’re going to be reworking our submission periods this year. I’ll make an official announcement with more details soon. Thanks for being eager to send us your work! Always glad to see repeat submitters like you in our slush pile 🙂
